The Lane Center had it's beginnings in the private acupuncture practice of its founder Genevieve Lane, Lic Ac in 1982. As part of Genevieve's internship, she had the unique experience of being part of a team of holistic healthcare providers at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston serving a population of chronic pain patients. As her private practice grew in those early years, while continuing to work part-time with the chronic pain population at Shattuck, Genevieve realized that the greatest call for acupuncture treatment in her private practice also came from people suffering from chronic illnesses and chronic pain. Genevieve recognized the need for a comprehensive multidisciplinary natural health care center.

The principles and practices developed and learned from the experience of working with those dealing with chronic illness and pain are the foundation for the formation of The Lane Center which officially began in 1991. A basic tenet of successful treatment of chronic illness is utilizing a multi-therapeutic approach simultaneously. What this means is that a patient with chronic illness or pain has a better treatment outcome if they receive, for example, acupuncture, massage, nutritional counseling and medication concurrently.

This is the reason the The Lane Center was created and why we offer Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, several types of therapeutic massage, specialized skin treatments for healing as well as for beautification, Lymphatic Drainage, CranioSacral therapy, Reiki, Nutrition, and Homeopathy. Our team of practitioners prepares an individualized treatment plan for each patient. A patient with long term health problems can expect to be treated by several practitioners using many therapeutic interventions while those patients with acute health concerns may only require one therapy.
